The Many Faces of Indiana Auto Plant

We are committed to bringing together a diverse group of associates.

The story of the Indiana Auto Plant is the story of its more than 3,000 associates. Drawn from every strand of society, they are the engine that drives our daily output of nearly 1,000 Honda Civics, CR-Vs and Insight Hybrids, and a powerful symbol of Honda’s commitment to creating inclusive working environments across all its operations.

The essential principles of equality are ingrained in our DNA, passed down by our founder, Soichiro Honda, and those who came before us. Today, they manifest themselves in hiring practices that champion difference and the importance we place on freedom of expression and fresh perspective.

This same respect for others informs the way we conduct business with our suppliers and the relationships we seek to foster in the local community and beyond.

As Mr. Honda said in 1948, “The Human Being is born as a free and unique individual with the capacity to think, reason, and create – and the ability to dream. ‘Respect for the Individual’ calls on Honda and all associates to nurture and promote these characteristics in our company by respecting individual differences and trusting each other as equal partners.”

Supplier Diversity

Honda remains committed to developing business relationships with a diverse supplier base. Women and minority entrepreneurs can be an excellent source of new ideas and can help us shape products that exceed expectations. After all, our suppliers are a reflection of our customers and our communities.

Honda believes people—in all their diversity—strengthen the competitiveness of our companies and make it possible for us to deliver world-class products. We also believe encouraging diversity within and beyond our corporate boundaries is an important business practice and we urge our suppliers to embrace the same commitment.

Philosophy/Core Values

We attribute our strong team to two principles that have served us well since the beginning. Respect for the Individual and The Three Joys.

Respect for The Individual enshrines the concept of fairness and equality in every Honda operation around the world. A diversity of ideas and talent is the backbone of what makes our team great. Everyone brings something unique to the table. And collectively they provide a product that fits our diverse customers.

The 3 Joys outline a trio of essential experiences that any individual can expect to enjoy as a member of the Honda family: Joy of Buying. Joy of Selling. Joy of Creating. Together they form our spiritual guide and moral compass. They inform our every decision, practice and objective, and ultimately make working here both professionally rewarding and personally fulfilling.

Our Team, Our Goal, One Goal

The Team

We have highly skilled and passionate associates here at Honda. They’re agile and engaged, and they work together in an inclusive environment to elevate our plant and our state. They’ve put Indiana on the auto manufacturing map. And they make us proud to call this place home.

The Goal

Joy. That’s it, really. We aim to create both associate and customer joy. It’s how we sustain our company. And here’s the way we achieve it. We make our workplace safe. We engage our associates. We build quality into every process. We drive efficiency. And we solve problems. It sounds simple, but it takes hard work to achieve joy. Still, that’s our goal, every single day.
