Indiana Auto Plant (IAP) will be recognized this Saturday, September 16, at the Indianapolis Urban League’s An Urban Affair Gala. IAP is receiving a Corporate Partner Award as a result of its long history supporting the League and various education and workforce development initiatives the agency conducts.
“Helping to develop and cultivate new talent is a top priority at Honda. Supporting educational and workforce development related programs is just one way that we achieve this, and organizations like the Indianapolis Urban League offer a great service to members of our community,” said Bob Nelson, IAP President. “We value our relationship with the League and are honored to receive this award.”
The Indianapolis Urban League empowers students, individuals and families towards self-sufficiency through educational programs, workforce development training, health and quality of life initiatives, civic engagement and leadership opportunities, and civil rights and racial justice advocacy.
At Saturday’s event, the League will honor individuals, community partners and corporations whose efforts and support the agency’s mission to assist African Americans, other minorities and disadvantaged individuals to achieve economic and social equality.
“Honda Manufacturing of Indiana’s support has helped to sustain and elevate the Indianapolis Urban League’s educational programs and workforce development efforts,” said Tony Mason, president and CEO of the Indianapolis Urban League. “Through the support of corporate partners like IAP, our agency has earned a Center for Working Families designation from the United Way of Central Indiana – an accomplishment for which we are very proud.”
